Sales Specialist

 POSITION SUMMARY

The Sales Specialists’ primary goal is to contribute to the maintenance of budgeted census levels in health care and transitional care.  The Specialist will contribute to sales of independent living and assisted living as needed.  The Skilled Care Sales Specialist is expected to represent Meadowlark Hills in Manhattan, its’ surrounding communities, and within the confines of Meadowlark Hills, giving presentations and attending sales fairs as needed.  Additionally, the Skilled Care Sales Specialist is responsible for implementing all Sales policies and procedures for health care and transitional care, including tours, follow ups, and move-in coordination.  The Specialist develops and maintains relationships with area hospitals, coordinates referrals with the Nursing Services Leader, and communicates vacancies and upcoming move-ins to Sales Leader. Additionally, the Skilled Care Sales Specialist assists in facilitating transitions on campus or from the Community, keeping an active record of daily activity in all seven health care households. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Assist in maintaining census and occupancy levels in the areas of health care and transitional care.
  • Maintain confidentiality and keep detailed and accurate records of client information
  • Identify and maintain customer service standards within the sales department
  • Manage and give sales-related campus tours
  • Participate in daily team meetings and weekly forecasting sessions
  • Generate and follow up on sales leads (potential residents)
  • Develop and maintain relationships with area and regional hospital social workers
  • Travel to complete clinical nursing assessments (screens) as needed
  • Follow set procedure to gather all information necessary to determine, along with the Nursing Services Leader, whether Meadowlark Hills will accept or decline a potential resident
  • Maintain external relationships with community organizations and referral sources
  • Assist in the management of the Passport Program, including: data entry, list maintenance, and distribution of communications
  • Responsible and accountable for following Meadowlark Hills’ mission and values while maintaining our philosophy of person-directed care
  • Develop constructive and cooperative relationships with others and maintain these relationships
  • Encourage mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members
  • Maintain adequate communication with team and team leader
  • Support team members and team leader in meeting all job requirements, provide timely feedback, and actively participate in being a learning and teaching organization
  • Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures in sales
  • Support marketing efforts and special events

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Travel outside of the Manhattan Community as needed
  • Stay current on all Nursing Licensure
  • Assist with safe transitions
  • External presentations
  • Always promote Meadowlark Hills in a positive and professional manner
  • Attend in-service training programs
  • Responsible for performing other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Experience: 

Minimum of 3 years similar experience and/or education preferred.  Employee is expected to have acquired the necessary knowledge and skills to perform the job satisfactorily in accordance with current standards, guidelines and regulations of Meadowlark Hills.

Education: 

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Certification Requirements:

  • Approved Meadowlark Hills driver (will obtain on-site)
  • Current on all Nursing Guidelines and Requirements

Financial Accountability: 

The Skilled Care Sales Specialist is responsible for making optimal use of all resources including time, while respecting residents’ and Meadowlark Hills’ property.

Working Environment:

The Skilled Care Sales Specialist works primarily in a climate controlled office setting with controlled lighting, temperature and air quality.  The position operates standard office equipment including, but not limited to computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, and telephones.  At times this position is required to partake in services or activities outdoors and/or off campus.

Physical Demands: 

This position requires physical activity and moderate movement throughout the work day in order to perform daily duties.  Requires the ability to stand, walk, push, pull, carry, move, bend, kneel, squat, reach, stretch, and lift objects; must use universal precautions in all situations.  Must be able to operate office equipment (phone, computer, printer, copier, fax machine, etc.), and various equipment and mobility devices (wheelchair, walker, gait belt, mechanical lift, etc.) used by/for residents.  These operations must be performed with normal visual range, acuity, color determination, and the ability to distinguish letters and numbers.  Good oral communication skills, the ability to speak clearly and the ability to listen attentively with appropriate hearing acuity are required.

Work Hours:

The Sales Specialist is a full-time salaried position.  Primary work days are Monday through Friday.  Hours may vary depending upon needs and current projects.  Sales staff often work irregular hours since they must be available when potential residents want a tour and are on an on-call subject to emergency call outs on short notice.
