Local not-for-profit focused on supporting people in living their best lives
3rd annual HOGtoberfest to raise money, awareness for Good Samaritan Fund Friends of Meadowlark Hills have a fun and tasty opportunity to support the Meadowlark Hills Foundation’s Good Samaritan Fund when the doors to Cox Bros. BBQ open at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13. Brothers Bud and Bobby Cox, sons of Meadowlark Hills resident Ellie Cox, pledge to donate 10% of that day’s proceeds to the Fund.
HELP us solve this mystery! There was a cash donation given a few weeks ago in the amount of $25 towards the new shopping carts, but we failed to write the name of the donor on the envelope. If this person is you, please contact Monte Spiller at 323-3801 or Becky Fitzgerald at 323-3843. Thank you!
When Vern Gannon speaks, people listen. The local auctioneer’s talent for fast talking will be on display Saturday, Sept. 10, at the 2nd annual Meadowlark Hills Benefit Auction planned for the Utopia Room at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 2900 Kimball Ave. Proceeds benefit the Meadowlark Hills Foundation’s Good Samaritan Fund, which assists residents in Meadowlark Hills healthcare households who have outlived their financial resources. Once again, Gannon is donating his time and that of his staff members so that more auction revenue will go toward the fund.
Holiday LIGHTS! Bring your CAMERAS! A variety of ACTION awaits when the Meadowlark Hills Travelers visit Oklahoma City and the Grapevine, Texas, area in early December. A five-day/four-night tour planned for Nov. 30 through Dec. 4 has been designed to put you in the holiday spirit by enticing your five senses. There will be twinkling lights and holiday exhibits to see, live performances to hear, locally made food and wine to smell and taste – Grapevine is aptly named! – and artisan-made items to touch.
Hilton. Hupe. Hawley. Current Meadowlark Hills resident Evelyn Hawley has had only one last initial since the day she was born in 1923, and learning about her career and knowing her contributions at Meadowlark Hills, other h-words and phrases come to mind: helpful, hard-working, high standards, hospitable. Evelyn, who worked for 26 years in Physical Facilities at Kansas State University and who has donated time and money to various Meadowlark Hills projects, was honored Monday, May 23, at the 14th annual LegacySociety Banquet sponsored by Meadowlark Hills Foundation.

Meadowlark Hills Foundation’s endowed fund gets a big boost!
Earth Day, April 22, 2016, is a great day for the Manhattan, Kansas community when the 4th Annual Grow Green Match Day will take place. On that day, donations made through the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation to participating nonprofit agencies will receive a 50% match that can be used for their most crucial needs.
Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, “A Grand Night of Singing” at Quality Hill Playhouse and lunch/shopping at Webster House. Kansas City, Mo., has much to entice visitors, so plan now to join Monte Spiller and Becky Fitzgerald when we travel in May to the City of Fountains. A three-day, two-night adventure is planned for Tuesday, May 10 through Thursday, May 12, and speaking of water features, a guided tour of some of the city’s fountains is on our itinerary, too!
The new year has started off with a significant increase to our Good Samaritan Fund as a result of a successful Dollar-A-Day campaign. In early December, letters and donation cards were sent to nearly 600 Meadowlark Hills supporters, inviting one-time donations or regularly scheduled gifts to the Fund throughout 2016.
