Local not-for-profit focused on supporting people in living their best lives
Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community received the PEAK Award on Thursday, Aug. 22, during a presentation ceremony in the MeadowlarkHillsCommunity Center. The award was presented to Lonnie Baker, CEO at Meadowlark Hills, by the Secretary for Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS), Shawn Sullivan.
For the past ten years, the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) has been recognizing nursing homes for successfully implementing culture change through the Promoting Excellent Alternatives in Kansas Nursing Homes program commonly known as PEAK. Meadowlark Hills is proud to announce, we will receive the award once again, this year.
Meadowlark Hills will host a Community Health and Wellness Fair from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, throughout the Community Center on the Meadowlark Hills campus, 2121 Meadowlark Rd. The event is open to all Meadowlark Hills residents, Passport members, staff, and seniors throughout the Manhattan community. It will showcase various vendors and services offered at businesses throughout the community.
The Speedy P.D. 5K/10K Race for Parkinson’s disease will be held at Tuttle Creek State Park in Manhattan, Kansas, on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013. The 5K Run/10K Run/Walk and Half-Mile Family Fun Run/Walk are presented by UMB Bank and proceeds benefit the Meadowlark Hills Parkinson Fund. The newest feature of the race is the certification of the 5K and 10K courses.
Burke and Margery Bayer, and Barbara Wilson received the Manhattan Legacy Award on Monday, May 20, at the Meadowlark Hills Legacy Banquet.
Meadowlark Hills has named Lonnie Baker the Chief Executive Officer. As the CEO, Baker is responsible for providing visionary, strategic leadership for the organization by working with the Board of Trustees and senior leaders to establish and achieve the short-term and long-range goals.
Congratulations to Shorty Kahler, IL resident, for his victory in the championship match in the Rasmussen 8-ball Tournament on Monday, June 11, in the Billiards Parlor at Meadowlark Hills! Shorty beat the reigning champion, Brad Olson (Environmental Services), to claim the title. An official presentation of the trophy will be included at the next Town Meeting, set for 9:30 a.m. on Monday, July 2. The Rasmussen 8-ball Tournament is a quarterly pool tournament played between residents and staff on the Meadowlark Hills campus.
Margaret Wheat, long-time community member and current Meadowlark Hills resident, received the Manhattan Legacy Award on Monday, May 14, at the Meadowlark Hills Legacy Banquet.
