We’ve been  learning the art of practicing patience at the Duggan household. This new found focus was driven by the annual raising of our family Christmas tree which lent itself to housing wrapped and tempting presents at its base. Murphy is three-years-old and this is her fourth Christmas, however, it is her first Christmas she has started to connect that some of the gifts under the tree are for her.

I’m going to speak of a magnificent animal—also one of God’s creatures—that is a source of disdain for many of you: the eastern fox squirrel (Sciurus niger).  The genus name, Sciurus, is related to their habit of “sitting in the shade of their tail” while resting or sunning on a horizontal limb.  This squirrel ranges widely across the eastern United States, including all of Kansas.  Yes, Meadowlark Hills also is blessed.  The fox squirrel range touches western New England and extends somewhat beyond the 100th meridian in our West.  Thus, these squirrels grace many woods, l

Christmas came early for Meadowlark’s Home Health staff! In November, residents Duane and Pat Miksch offered to donate their 2007 Toyota Prius to Meadowlark Foundation, and it didn’t take long to determine the car would be a welcome addition to Meadowlark’s fleet.
