Today is the 75th anniversary of D-Day: the huge, costly, and ultimately successful allied land assault on Hitler’s Fortress Europe. Although mere words never can even remotely capture what happened that fateful day on Omaha Beach, I want to share a powerful experience that Imogene and I once had there.
Meadowlark’s amenities, services, and people are three facets to a gem of a community that’s better prepared and skilled at helping us navigate life’s pathways. At the 17th annual Legacy Society Banquet on May 13, Meadowlark Foundation had the pleasure of recognizing five friends who have been leaders and cheerleaders as we’ve walked together. Kim Richards, Cindy and Wayne Sloan, Jane Westfall, and Kip Williams have done much to keep Meadowlark a step ahead.
Meadowlark Home Health has served the Manhattan community since 1995. As a dual licensed agency, the Home Health team is able to work with various insurance providers and provide a robust variety of private pay services. Within the past year, Meadowlark Home Health has seen a considerable growth in private pay and Medicare services. Often times, the team covers more than 125 hours of home health aide and companion hours per day!
The ninth annual Pig Out for Parkinson’s is in the books, which means Cox Bros BBQ and the Meadowlark Parkinson’s Program are ready to start planning a stellar tenth celebration for April 2020! Once again, the Meadowlark and the Manhattan community came to the table to eat great BBQ, listen to a wonderful band, learn about Parkinson’s disease (Pd) and support the Parkinson’s Program. The Parkinson’s Program was able to make contact with two people who were recently diagnosed with Pd and were looking for resources. This is one of the biggest reasons Pig Out for Parkinson’s exists!
Meadowlark fund grows by more than $26,500!
During a 24-hour period on Monday, 58 local non-profit endowment funds received more than $520,000 in private, charitable gifts from supporters. With Greater Manhattan Community Foundation providing a 50% match to eligible donations ($25 to $1000), the total raised during the 7th annual Grow Green Match Day tops $780,000!
You came, you saw, you purchased! After 13 hours over three days, much of the merchandise at Meadowlark Market has found new homes. A soft opening on March 22 for residents and employees was followed by an opening to the public on Saturday and Sunday, March 30 and 31. Sales receipts for those three days total $3,736.03, and benefit our Good Samaritan Fund!

There were many winners at Art Mingle: Plein Air Affair.
Guest artists Kim Casebeer and Susan Rose saw 28 of their original landscape paintings leave in the hands of new owners via the event’s silent and live auctions as well as a “buy it now” opportunity in their Artist’s Showcase rooms. Casebeer’s “Quiet in the Valley” generated the highest bid of the night at $1,750, while Rose’s “Winter Meadowlark” was snapped up quickly for $1,300 in her Showcase room.
